translation of the title:
… the clay waiting for me…

… la glaise qui m’attend…
was composed in 2008, to the memory of Mariana Berta, uruguayan oboist who passed at the beginning of that year, after dedicating a good part of her musical life to contemporary music.

The title comes from the following poem:

Je pétrirai de mes doigts la glaise qui m'attend
pour en faire jaillir le visage de la douleur
qui nous affranchira

I will knead with my fingers the clay waiting for me
to let spread of it the face of pain
which will free us

The work is constructed on six fragments of oboe and english horn, played by Mariana, and their transformations mainly through resynthesis technique.
It is divided in four parts separated by silence:
1. based on one english horn sound;
2. based on one oboe sound and a transformed whale song fragment;
3. on various oboe sounds;
4. the former oboe and english horn, joined by sounds of other double reed instruments of the world (bombarde, crumhorn, duduk, hichiriki, mediaeval shawm, mey, mizmar, piri, shehnai, sralai, suona and taepyongso).
