installations
The installation has its source in various musical and sound practices and
in practices that originate in other artistic disciplines, such as the exhibition. It has of
course links with the ritual or the liturgy, which develop the interaction between officiants
(interpreters) and faithful (auditors / spectators), with a greater degree of freedom than these,
as much for the installer as for the participants, and an opening outside conventions, that
neither the ritual nor the exhibition have.
It is also a challenge to the concept of work, especially in the field of sound, since it no
longer depends exclusively on the relation to time involved in the traditional listening of
the musical work, which is linear in front of the linearity of time: the participant becomes
master, at least partially, of his relation to the work, intervening in it, in its course,
entering and leaving the work. The installation puts the participant in the spatial situation
of the work of art, but transposed in time.
